Akron has the yards for it. Firestone Park and Goodyear Heights were laid out for rubber workers with room behind the house, and their lots, like Ellet’s, hold a grill station and 30 guests easily. West Akron and Fairlawn Heights run bigger patios, and the lake houses on the Portage Lakes south of the city book hibachi for summer weekends when the boats come in.
Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Hudson and Green are inside the normal drive from 647 E Market Street. The station needs a level spot, a little clearance from the house and an outlet within reach. The request form asks for the yard details and a rain plan, because an Ohio July can go either way, and the hibachi menu converts to an indoor buffet without losing anything.
Season runs from the first warm weekend in May to the last one in September. Graduation parties, birthdays and family reunions take most of the Saturdays, so hold your date early.
