Catering in Kent, Ohio

Weddings, campus events, corporate lunches and parties in Kent and across Portage County, catered from a kitchen ten miles down Route 59.

Ten miles of Route 59, and the food arrives hot.

Kent is the closest of the cities on our profile outside Akron: ten miles northeast on Route 59, past Brimfield, in about twenty minutes. That is close enough that a hot buffet leaves 647 E Market Street in chafing service and opens on a Kent table without a reheating step, and close enough that we can be on site to serve.

A college town of 28,000 that doubles when Kent State is in session has a calendar unlike anywhere else in the service area. Move in weekend and graduation, homecoming in October, department receptions and alumni dinners through the year, plus the weddings, showers and corporate lunches any city of its size books.

Every menu is custom. Bring the date, the room, the headcount and the budget per person and we come back within three to five business days with a menu and a real number.

Fruit tray of watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, cantaloupe and pineapple
Brunch grazing table with donuts, cupcakes, crudites, fruit and fresh flowers
Hot buffet line with shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles in chafing pans

Fruit, brunch and the hot line, ten miles from Kent.

Downtown Kent, the campus and the river.

Kent’s events split between downtown and the university. Downtown has rebuilt itself around Acorn Alley, the Kent Stage and the Franklin Hotel, with the Haymaker Farmers’ Market under the bridge on Saturdays from May to October. Kent State’s main campus holds more than 26,000 students and runs a steady stream of receptions, department lunches, student organization dinners and the May and December commencements that fill every restaurant in town.

Outdoor events lean on the river. Fred Fuller Park is the city’s largest at 56 acres along the Cuyahoga, and the Heritage Festival takes over downtown on the Fourth of July. Backyards in the neighborhoods off Route 43 and the subdivisions out toward Brimfield and Streetsboro book graduation parties through June.

Portage County beyond Kent, including Ravenna, Streetsboro, Brimfield and Aurora, is inside the same delivery plan.

Catering in Kent, answered.

Do you deliver and set up in Kent, or is it pickup only?
Both, plus on site service. Kent is about twenty minutes from the kitchen, so hot food travels in chafing service and we set the display at your venue. Someone from the team can stay to serve.
Can you cater an event on the Kent State campus?
Yes. Tell us the building, the room and the loading and parking situation on the request form, and whether the university has rules for outside caterers in that space, and we plan the delivery around them.
How much lead time does a Kent event need?
Two weeks where you can manage it, more for a wedding or a commencement weekend when every caterer in Portage County is booked. Call 330.573.2738 if the date is close.
Is there a delivery charge for Kent?
Delivery and on site service are quoted with the menu and vary with the date and the distance. Kent sits inside the normal ring, so the charge is modest. The quote shows it as a line item before you commit.
